Units and exact fractions
How to type dimensions, which units are supported, and how sizes are kept exact.
Type dimensions the way they are written on a cut list:
| You type | Read as |
|---|---|
24 | 24 |
24.125 | 24 1/8 |
24 1/8 or 24-1/8 | 24 1/8 |
7/8 | 7/8 |
Set the job’s Units to inches, feet, millimetres, centimetres or metres. Feet and inches in one value, such as 8' 6", is not supported: enter 102 inches.
Exact, not rounded
Every dimension is stored as a whole number of very small units (1/16 of a micrometre), so fractions of an inch and millimetres are both exact. Nothing rounds between your list and the plan. In the rare case a value needs snapping to that grid, part sizes round up and stock sizes round down, so a part never comes out smaller than you asked or stock larger than you have.
