Reading the results

Utilization, waste, kerf and offcuts; roll length; unplaced parts; and the cut sequence.

After optimizing, the Results panel shows the plan’s totals and every stock piece.

Where the material went

  • Pieces — the area of the parts.
  • Kerf — the material the blade removed, reported on its own.
  • Offcuts — leftovers at least your minimum reusable size.
  • Waste — everything else.

For sheets and rolls these add up exactly to the stock area used, and utilization is the parts’ area divided by that area. For rolls the headline is the roll length consumed. For linear stock each stick is accounted for along its length. Choose How the numbers add up to see the arithmetic.

Outcomes

  • Optimized — every part was placed.
  • Partial — some parts could not be placed. Each is listed with the reason: no stock large enough, stock ran out, or the part’s constraints cannot be met.

The cut sequence

Press N to number the cuts in order on the canvas, or open the production view to follow them one stock piece at a time.
